Project 2: UI/UX Design Document
Requirement
After locking down their App concept and idea, students are now ready to
proceed to UX design. The students are required to produce a
comprehensive UX design document which will provide better directions
for them to design the app. Based on the information gathered in task 1,
students will:
- Determine and verify their target audiences.
- Outline the content element of their app, and exercise card sorting method to achieve optimum information architecture.
- Listing the app features and identifying the application Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
- Create wireframes for main screens
- Plan the user interaction and interactivity (Flow chart)
Progression
Fig. 2.0 is my initial card sorting for the current app. I first listed all the features and categories, then made adjustments and added new features and categories, as shown in Fig. 2.2. After receiving feedback from Mr. Zeon in Week 6, I adjusted it to Fig. 2.3.

We had no choice; we had to complete the survey, interviews,
and card sorting to collect data. The survey required at
least 50 respondents, and I ultimately received 52
responses. For the interviews, Mr. Zeon initially suggested
5 people, but this was later changed to a minimum of 3
people, and I ended up interviewing 4 individuals. Fig. 2.4
shows my survey and interview questions.

For the interviews, I recorded the conversations and then converted the key points into text to make it easier to analyze the interview results later.

FEEDBACK
Week 6:
- Ticket Cancellation/Refund is very risky
- Social Sharing, Add Favourite, Filters can be categorised under movie selection
- Users may want to add favourites while selecting movies
Week 11:
- The interview section is good that summarized and analyzed in the table.
REFLECTION
I find this project quite challenging, as it requires conducting a
survey, interviews, and card sorting simultaneously. Before
starting, I thought it was just a matter of choosing one method. I
realize now that my time management hasn't been very effective,
leading to a sense of urgency, especially with the recent holidays
and the lack of classes which made me more lax. I need to improve in
this area.
Nevertheless, this project has allowed me to gain a deeper
understanding of the MBO Cinemas app, not only from my perspective
but also from the viewpoints of other users and participants. I am
grateful to everyone who helped with the survey, interviews, and
card sorting, as without their assistance, this project might have
fallen through.
Additionally, I have learned firsthand the challenges designers face
in the research phase. I did not anticipate the amount of
consideration required before starting the actual design work. This
experience has reinforced the principle that “the user comes first.”
