FEEDBACK

Week 1:

  • Add/drop of module: Latest by Week 4
  • Withdrawal from module: Before Week 7
  • Ai 5%, similarity article 15%
  • We don’t do Research Conceptual Framework Diagram
  • Week 2 shows a matrix of your theme identification and prepares past data to support metrics.

Week 2:

  • In the Metric, the "Data" section doesn't need to include the survey question. Instead, you can put a title, such as "Problems with colors used in selected FDAs."
  • When mentioning "Most respondents," include the percentage.
  • Make the themes more detailed, like "Role of Colour," not just "Colour."
  • In the discussion,  start by introducing "Visual Elements in Selected FDAs" and the visual elements.

Week 3:

  • Metrix is to organize the theme clearly for ourselves.
  • The Roles, importance, and relationship to usability of visual elements need to be written in section 5.1.
  • In section 5.2, 'The Usability Challenges Related to Visual Elements in Selected FDAs,' the 'of' can be replaced with 'Related to.
  • Sections 5.2.1, 5.2.2, and 5.2.3 can be directly titled 'Colour,' 'Typography,' and 'Layout,' respectively.
  • Sections 5.2 and 5.3 don’t need to repeat 'in Selected FDAs' as it will be explained in section 5.1.

Week 4:

  • The introduction of section 5.0 needs to be revised and mention the research problem.
  • In each section (e.g., 1.0, 2.0, 3.0), please write "food delivery apps (FDAs)" to ensure the reader understands the term, then you can use the”FDAs”.
  • The phrase “Each part will answer the research questions below:” suggests that sections 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3 each answer all the research questions. It should be written as “Each part will respectively answer the research questions below:"
  • Good to have a short recap of the FDAs in the 5.1.
  • The phrase should be "this research" instead of "this dissertation" when referring to the choices of color, typography, and layout of visual elements.
  • You need to include figures and captions for the GrabFood app and Foodpanda app in section 5.1.1.
  • For qualitative data, you can include quotes to show similar responses, and you can also write something like “80 participants out of 100” to summarise the data.

Week 5:

  • For section 5.1, don’t start with "respondents think that...". Start with brand recognition and colour with literature support, feature images, and discuss survey responses last.
  • For section 5.1, you need to always bring back the selected FDAs.
  • Make it more contextual.
  • Section 5.2 can be combined with 5.1, so that content is not repeated and the reader can understand it better.

Week 6:

  • In a literature review, I can't gain data from research articles but obtain views on the current topic.
  • A literature review needs to compare articles, and it is possible that one article might be repeated.
  • You can start with a brief summary of the articles and then compare them.
  • A literature review can have only two headings.
  • You can place the headings under broader categories, such as User Experience.

Week 7:

  • In picture credits, even if the photos are your own screenshots, you should include a caption, e.g., Fig. 5.1 to Fig. 5.2 GrabFood app screenshot by researcher.
  • In section 5.1.1 on Brand Recognition, you need to explain the relationship between the colour red and Foodpanda’s pink.
  • You can find additional relevant research to support the discussion.
  • Provide more figures to help readers better understand the content.
  • Section 5.2 needs to start with a recap of usability challenges.
  • Your organisation is fine, but don't leave much loophole and always link back to FDAs
  • The entire research should be written in the past tense.
  • Use two types of page numbering: i, ii, ... and 1, 2, ...

Week 9:

Design Concept:
  • Always remember your design concept when you design.
Colour Palette:
  • The current green might not be suitable.
  • The left  image will be more cohesive.
  • Alternatively, add a more saturated green rather than the current muted one.
Cover Page:
  • The cover page doesn’t need to feature an eye.
  • Use a simpler design related to food.
  • Can draw inspiration from the GrabFood and Foodpanda logos.
Content Layout:
  • The top left first and second images on slide 7 & the bottom right image on slide 8 are good.
  • In Slide 8, the left image layout is not suitable as you do not have much photography.
Typefaces:
  • The typeface combination slide is confusing.
  • For heading, try using the Cabinet Grotesk typeface, especially its Extrabold.
  • For body text, Inter typeface can be eye-catching.

Week 10:

Cover Page:
  • Consider using the line designs (3 and 4) for the cover, but the 'S' line should be smoother.
  • Increase the heading font size by 1/2 pt.
Typefaces:
  • Heading: Josefin Sans (SemiBold)
  • Body text: Open Sans (Light)
Layout:
  • Gradient design is not suitable for a food delivery app, it should use a flat design.
  • The circle in the bottom right corner of the left page of the - Introduction can be replaced with a line design, similar to the cover.
  • Avoid using pink and green on the same page.

Week 11:

Cover Page:
  • The pages following the cover must be in black and white.
  • The cover looks a bit light compared to the content pages. Suggestions to solve this:
    • Consider using solid green and pink.
    • Change the title to uppercase and increase the font size.
    • The white circle can be changed to green/pink.
Table of Contents:
  • The second idea is better.
  • Add page numbers.
  • The discussion section can be shortened.
Content Pages:
  • The content pages have consistency.
  • For the title page of the content, the idea with smaller numbers is better.

Week 12:

  • The direction of the introduction is correct. You can also write about UI/UX.
  • You need to check if the citations are correct.
  • Use 'colour theme' instead of 'theme colour.'
  • Add "In conclusion" to the abstract's last sentence.
  • You need to include Key Words and Picture Credits.

Week 13:

  • Use 'FDAs' after mentioning 'food delivery apps (FDAs)' in the title and abstract to save words..
  • Key Words only need the first word capitalised.
  • Remove some sentences from the second paragraph of the introduction.
  • Cite the first sentence of the introduction.
  • The introduction should be reduced to a maximum of 210 words, so a few more words need to be cut.
  • Introduction is clear and direction is correct.

Week 14:

  • The Findings and Discussion sections need to provide more data support.
  • The last paragraph of the Findings and Discussion can be moved to the Conclusion.
  • 2-3 screenshots of the Google Forms can be included in the Appendices.

REFLECTION

I find this module to be the most difficult and stressful one so far, filled with many challenges. I actually don't like writing; completing a dissertation is extremely difficult for me, and I really feel like I'm going crazy. In fact, I've thought about giving up more than once, but I'm glad I stuck with it in the end. I feel that my reading skills have improved, although I really don't like reading those research articles. However, after experiencing the process of writing a dissertation myself, I admire each dissertation, knowing that they were completed with time and effort.

In the Design Research Methodology module, we've already completed part of the dissertation, but I think the remaining parts, like analysis and discussion, are the most challenging. I found that I didn't get much data in the survey (DRM module), which I regret a bit, and I've realized areas where I can improve. Additionally, when writing the dissertation, I often felt confused at first, don't know how to write. This was a huge challenge for me. But gradually, I learned how to express my thoughts and findings in words, although I know there's still room for improvement.

Among all the projects, my favorite is Project 3. It was my first time designing a book, which was a very interesting experience. At first, forgetting how to use InDesign caused me a lot of trouble.

In this module, I learned that using AI to help write is actually unacceptable behavior. When it was detected that AI was over 5%, I was very nervous. But fortunately, Dr. Jinchi gave us a second chance to revise our dissertations. I want to thank Dr. Jinchi, she is really nice and always patiently gives us feedback. She provides help when we encounter difficulties. Without her help, I probably wouldn't have been able to complete my dissertaion.
