After the shooting, we will be editing the film ourselves. We have the
creative freedom to arrange the video clips in a way that doesn't
necessarily follow the original story of the film

I'm incorporating fade-ins with a black background and white text in
some scenes to enhance the storytelling. I'm using the font ITC
Garamond Std (light).
Fig. 1.2 Adding text
I've done some basic editing, adding text and incorporating
recorded dialogues.

Next, I adjusted the white balance for each scene before proceeding
with colour grading. To be honest, I find colour grading to be quite
intuitive, and I'm unsure whether my adjustments are accurate. I
don't have a clear sense of direction in this aspect.

I've graded the scene where the character was looking at her phone
with a green tint to evoke a somewhat eerie atmosphere, as I feel
the breakup message itself carries a sense of horror.

Project 2B: TikTok/Insta Video
I initially aimed to create a more everyday video, as seen in Fig. 2.0 TikTok Proposal 1. However, I found it a bit challenging and chaotic to shoot. Therefore, I switched to a different theme, as outlined in Fig. 2.1 TikTok Proposal 2. I plan to create a relaxed video featuring scenic landscapes, taking advantage of my recent visit to the seaside in my hometown.

Since I've got a ton of footage shot on my phone, I initially planned to upload it to Drive for editing on my computer. But man, the loading speed is unbearable! So, I've made the call to edit everything on CapCut right from my phone. Plus, I'm pretty comfortable with it.
When I attempted to use CapCut's Mix transition to create a gradual overlap effect between two clips, I found that the result didn't live up to my expectations. Therefore, I opted for a technique involving switching between different layers and adjusting opacity to achieve the slow transition effect I had in mind.

Colour grading and adding filters are truly magical processes. I find them particularly interesting when adjusting the colours of the sea, the difference can be quite noticeable. In Fig. 2.5, there happened to be a sunset that day, so I increased the saturation of orange and red hues in the HSL to make it look more appealing. Similarly, in Fig. 2.4, I also heightened the saturation of blue and orange hues in the HSL to make the seawater appear clearer. In reality, it wasn't as pristine as it appears (guess you can't always trust online images; colour grading is indeed quite versatile, haha).

FEEDBACK
-
REFLECTION
During the shooting of Project 2, I felt that both the actors and
the cinematographer worked tirelessly, and I appreciate the
dedication of the entire team. Additionally, while editing, I
learned how to use Premiere Pro. However, I still lack familiarity
with color correction and need to strengthen my skills in this area.
For the TikTok video edit, I used the more familiar CapCut, but
encountered numerous challenges. I struggled for a long time to
determine the theme and create a storyboard. Although I captured a
lot of footage, I found myself unsure of how to effectively edit it.
Editing proved to be quite challenging for me, especially in
crafting an engaging TikTok video. It seems like I might not have a
strong interest in video editing, but thankfully, I still managed to
complete the task.
